At Central Walker Church of England Primary School, Religious Education is not just an academic subject, it is at the heart of everything we do. It has an important role in reflecting and conveying the distinctly Christian character of our school. At Central Walker we recognise the need to prepare our children for a society which is changing rapidly. We follow the Diocesan Syllabus for Religious Education (produced by the Dioceses of Durham and Newcastle, 2018). This enables us to ensure that the children in our school receive quality RE which is both challenging and creative. The principal aim of our RE teaching is to enable pupils to become religiously literate. Thus being able to hold balanced and informed conversations about religion and belief. Together, we create a safe space where children can develop their own spiritual/philosophical convictions whilst exploring and enriching their own beliefs and values.
